If you want to look and sound cool when talking about your casino exploits, then there's no cooler game right now than blackjack. With the recent release of a motion picture written entirely around the tension of this timeless game, blackjack is even more popular than ever before, which is saying something when you consider that it was already one of the most popular card games in the world. For years both casual and professional casino-goers have crowded around the blackjack tables. Now online casinos ensure that there's always a seat for you. Are you up to the challenge? You can rely on Special Casino to ensure that you are
So what exactly is blackjack? You probably know that it uses the same old 52-card deck as poker and a whole slew of other classic card games, and you've probably guessed it's got something to do with a jack. The first point is of course dead on and the second is the original basis for the game's objective (in other words it's how you win).
The game of blackjack revolves around the standard 52-card deck. Each card in the deck is assigned a value. Number cards are worth the number displayed on their face while face cards are all worth ten. The ace on the other hand breaks the mold by being worth either one or 11 depending on which is more advantageous to the player. While originally a black jack and ace were the highest possible hand (hence the game's name), suits no longer hold any relevance in the game so that a red jack and black jack are interchangeable in value.
The game begins with two cards being dealt to every player and the dealer. In this way, the highest possible starting hand you can have is a 21 (with a face card and the ace), and this consequently is also the best hand you can have in the game. A hand with a value of more than 21 is called going bust and results in the automatic loss of your bet. A hand of anything less than 15 is weak. It is important to note that by house rules most dealers will stand on a hand of either 16 or 17. You should use the dealer's standing point to determine your own strategy. With this in mind, it is also important to note that only one of the dealer's first two cards is visible to you. The common strategy is to assume the unrevealed card is a ten and to build your own hand around the assumption.
In case you haven't guessed yet, blackjack differs from poker in several ways but most notably in who you're competing against. Your job is not to build a better hand than the other players' but to build a better hand than the dealer's. All other cards on the table are irrelevant. Once you've been dealt your first two cards, you must make your next move. This decision could make or break your hand. If you are satisfied with your first two cards, then you will stand. To stand is to play your current hand. If you want to try for a better hand, then you will hit. To hit is to request an additional card. A player can hit as many times as they like as long as they don't go bust. In special circumstances, you may also choose to split or double down. Players with two cards of the same value can split by separating those cards to form two hands. You will repeat your original bet to support the second hand, and the dealer will add a new card to each of the original cards. Doubling down is when a player doubles their bet and agrees to take only one additional card.
These are the mere basics of the game. With practice and observation, a smart player can use this information to build a winning strategy.

Although the game is not a very complicated, it is worth to get familiar with some basic rules and useful tips. You can find all of them in the next article.
As mentioned before, Blackjack is quite a simple game with uncomplicated rules. Despite these facts you should read some instruction concerning the game so that you could get to know all the potential mistakes and how to prevent them.
Before starting playing online Blackjack, read the text presented below. You will find there many useful facts concerning the game which may turn out to be helpful.
Although online blackjack does not differ significantly from the traditional blackjack played at the land based casino, it is said that it has its virtues.
While playing at online casino you do not have to worry about the stakes. There are tables at which players make bets as low as $1 but there are also such tables where the stakes are much higher – the limit of the bet can even amount to $500. The general information concerning playing Blackjack at online casino is: there can be one to five players at one table at the same time, and only one dealer. The bets are made before the cards are dealt.
At the beginning of the game punters make their wagers using various chips that are available at the particular casino. When the chips are on the table players choose their options and Blackjack starts. After that players are not allowed to change the stakes unless they use “Insurance” (which is not advised), “Split” or “Double Down”.
The general purpose of the game is to have a hand which totals 21 before the dealer. The player also wins if his hand is higher than the dealer’s and gives nearly 21 points. The punter loses if his hand exceeds 21. Blackjack or the other name: “natural 21” is when the player gets an ace and a 10 (or any of the face cards) as the two first cards. It totally gives 21 and the player gets 1,5 of his bet.
Blackjack concerns only a situation when 21 comes within first two cards. If there is more than two first cards required to get 21 then you cannot call it blackjack or a natural 21. 10 and any of the face cards give 10 and ace is always counted either as 11 or 1. It is worth to remember that if there is an ace in the dealer’s hand, it always counts as 11. There is a term worth remembering: a “hard hand” which refers to a hand which does not have an ace or an ace is counted as 1 in order not to exceed 21.
Blackjack is a game in which every player compete with a dealer. The general rule is to get 21 in cards faster than the dealer does. If the first two cards do not give 21, then player may “stand” – he does not receive any additional cards, or may also get some other cards (hitting) – as many as he wants. Sometimes the player has the same number in cards as a dealer. In such a case the hand is called a “push” and the player does not lose or win – he keeps his original wager. It is commonly established by the casinos that the dealer can take the next card until the hand totals 16. If the number is 17 or higher the dealer always “stands”. The knowledge of this rule may prove to be useful while playing.
Blackjack is a game in which the winning is completely dependent on the punter’s choice. The player may decide whether he wants to take another card or stop and wait with the cards he already has. If you like to have a control over the game you should definitely try playing Blackjack.
Some punters are used to playing without any strategy but this is not the best way of playing Blackjack. The game has a few simple rules and it is worth to get familiar with them. Risking may be exciting but does not guarantee winning. That’s why the good strategy is so important while playing Blackjack. Thanks to that you will increase your chances of winning. With a good strategy you will also be able to avoid common mistakes.

Blackjack is a very old game with a long interesting history. At first it was played in France in 1700s. The game was popular at casinos as well as in private houses. Through all these centuries the game did not lose its popularity. On the contrary, more and more people are interested in playing Blackjack. Quite recently, the new type of Blackjack occurred. The game is now available not only at land based casinos but also at online casinos. The history of online Blackjack is not so long and not such interesting as the traditional one’s, but it is worth to get to know how the game changed along the last couple of years.
The game was not always known as Blackjack. This name was given by Americans. American casinos offered a payout 10 times higher than the original bet was, if the player had in his first two cards an ace of spades and a black Jack of spades or clubs. Before the American name was given, the game was previously called just “21” which was taken from the translated French name “vingt-et-un” (twenty one).
After some time, the rule concerning the 10:1 payout was canceled. The general rule of the game has also changed. Now, in order to win a blackjack it is enough to have an ace and 10 or any other face card which also counts as 10. There is no need to have a jack in a hand any more.
No matter whether you prefer to play online or at a land based casino, here are some terms which are used in Blackjack. It is worth to read and remember them.
Hit: It means that the player take some more cards.
Stand: The players does not take any other cards, stays with the cards he already has.
Double Down: The player takes one card and doubles the wager.
Split: The player divides the hand into two different hands. In such a case the bet is placed on one of the hands and the same bet is place also on the other hand.
Insurance: It is a kind of a bet, not a very advisable one. When the dealer has an ace you may make this bet and estimate the chances of the dealer to have 10 as a next card. Insurance bet is not available at every Blackjack table.
Many famous online casinos offer to the inexperienced punters something called a “Practice Mode”. The punter may play blackjack without making real wagers. The great advantage of that free Blackjack is that you do not have to be worried about losing money if you do not feel so confident to play real Blackjack. The free mode is a perfect way to practice playing Blackjack.
If you want to get to know something more about the mentioned terms and rules of Blackjack, you should read carefully the text below. We have put there some very useful tips for Blackjack players.
If you want to enhance your chances of winning big payouts in blackjack, you should get used to the existence of some other blackjack rules than only “hit” or “stand”. They include such mysterious terms as: “insurance”, “split” or “doubling down”. It is quite useful to learn about them, even if you think that these rules are of no importance to you. In fact, it’s a different story. Knowing them can make your playing more successful.
One of the above mentioned rules is called “doubling down”. This rule allows you to double your bet during a game. But you can do it only after you have been given two cards, and then you can only take one more card.
Another rule is “splitting”. It allows you to split your hand into two separate hands. If you do so, you automatically make a second bet, the same as the original one. “Split” gives you a chance of winning or losing doubly. After splitting your hand, you continue playing as if you had two separate hands, and you are allowed to hit without any limitations.
There is one exception to the “split” rule: you cannot do it with aces. At any other case, use this rule whenever you please.
If the dealer has an ace, you can use a rule called “insurance”. By doing so, you insure that if the dealer has a 10 or a face card as a next card, you are given your bet back and get paid at 2-1 odds. Otherwise you lose your insurance bet.
Late or early surrender are next options for you to use. You can “opt out” if you suspect that the dealer has 21. If you do it before the dealer shows their cards, this is called “early surrender”. Doing so after the dealer shows the cards is called “late surrender”.
If you play Blackjack, you must have come across such terms as “soft hand”, “hard hand” or “a pair”. Here is a brief explanation.
A pair is a hand consisting of the same two cards. A soft hand consists an ace. An ace is counted either as a 1 or 11, enabling you to count your total in two different ways. We talk of a hard hand when it lacks an ace.
Below you will find some basic and, we believe, helpful tips. Following them should improve your chances of winning. Many players agree that one of the rudiments of playing Blackjack is to assume that the dealer’s next card is always a 10. This tip is easy to remember and use in practice, and soon you will discover how useful it is, too. Having in mind that the dealer’s next card is a 10, adjust your decisions of hitting or standing. Imagine that you have a total of, say, 16, and the dealer’s first card is a 6. Assuming that the dealer’s next card is ten, it gives a total of 16. So you should rather stand in this situation, as having 16, the dealer is quite likely to bust. Let’s imagine, however, that you have only 14, and the dealer’s first card is a 10. In such case you should assume that the dealer’s total is 20. Yours is only 14, therefore you are advised to hit.
Insurance is a rule that you can use when the dealer’s first card proves to be an ace. The likelihood of the next card being a 10 or a face card is quite high, therefore the insurance rule has been invented. If you have decided to take an insurance bet, you must pay half your original bet. This is as if you were betting that the value of the next dealer’s card will in fact be 10 and as a result the dealer will have a blackjack. If you are right, you are paid 2:1.
Insurance bet is not recommended by many players. The problem with this bet is the considerable house edge. As was mentioned before, by taking an insurance, you bet that the next dealer’s card has a value of 10, which means that it is either a 10 or a face card. Apayout without a house advantage would be 2.25:1, while in the actual fact it is only 2:1. We can conclude that the insurance bet is not a very good one to be made.
